Official CIGL Team Scoring

1. Core Scoring Components per Match (26 Base Points + Bonus)

Each head-to-head match awards points across three categories:

• Hole-by-Hole Match Play (18 Points): Net match play on every hole.
  • Win hole: 1.0 point
  • Halved hole: 0.5 points
  • Loss: 0.0 points
• 18-Hole Low Net Stroke Play (8 Points): Lowest aggregate 18-hole net score between the two players.
  • Lowest net: 8.0 points
  • Tied net: 4.0 points each
  • Loss: 0.0 points
• Handicap Performance Factor (Variable Bonus / Deduction): Evaluated strictly against the course rating:
  • $+1.0 \ for every stroke under handicap.
  • $-0.5 \ for every stroke over handicap.
  • $0.0 \ if playing exactly to handicap.

2. Putting & Hole Completion Policy

• Zero Concessions: There are no “gimmes” or conceded putts under any circumstance. Every player must hole out on every green.
• Play All 18 Holes: Because the 8-point stroke play award and the handicap performance factor require a completed 18-hole score, players cannot stop playing once the match play component is mathematically decided. All 18 holes must be completed.

3. Forfeits, No-Shows & Mid-Round Walk-Offs

If a player fails to appear on the 1st tee or walks off the course at any point during the round:

• Hole-by-Hole Match Play:
  • Any un-played holes are automatically forfeited as a loss (0.0 points) to the absent player.
  • The active player receives 1.0 point for every un-played hole. Any holes already completed prior to a walk-off retain their actual recorded results.
• Stroke Play Points:
  • The active player receives the full 8.0 stroke play points. The absent player receives 0.0 points.
• Handicap Over/Under Points:
  • The forfeiting/walk-off player receives 0.0 bonus or penalty points (their score is voided).
  • The active player must finish their 18-hole round as a marker. Their individual over/under handicap factor is calculated normally based entirely on their finished score (+1 per stroke under net par, -0.5 per stroke over).

4. Team Scoring & Result

• 6-Player Roster Total: Each team’s overall score is the cumulative sum of all points scored across its 6 individual matches.
• Team Tie Policy: If both teams end with identical total point aggregates after all 6 matches are calculated, the official final result is a Tie / Halved Match. No countbacks, individual match tiebreakers, or playoffs are used.
